TEMPLE, Texas — In a high-octane offensive battle at Herman Anderson Field on Tuesday evening, the Bonham Bulldog 8th Grade A football team held off a resilient SC Lee Junior High Bullpup squad to earn a hard-fought 38-34 victory on their home turf.

The Bulldogs’ offense was firing on all cylinders, led by a powerhouse performance from running back Tre Shamlin and quarterback Parker Huffman. Shamlin proved to be a force in the backfield, rushing for 185 yards and 3 touchdowns while also adding an extra point field goal to the board.

Huffman orchestrated the offense with precision, doing damage both through the air and on the ground. The quarterback racked up 119 rushing yards with a touchdown run, while completing key passes for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air.

Wide receiver Bryce Robinson emerged as the primary big-play threat, turning just 2 catches into a staggering 110 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kaden Prempeh added 2 receptions for 19 yards, and Audreas Lane hauled in a 9-yard reception to sustain crucial drives for Bonham.

While the scoreboard reflected a track meet, Bonham’s defense delivered decisive plays when it mattered most. DE Kaden Prempeh was named Defensive Player of the Game after terrorizing the SC Lee backfield, anchoring the defense with 5 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and a sack. Shamlin also made his presence felt on defense, contributing 3 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack of his own.

The victory was a collective effort up front. Defensive linemen Brendan Thomas, Silas Croteau, Felix Alvarado, and JR Salinas, alongside linebacker Kevin Brown, consistently collapsed the pocket, putting relentless pressure on the SC Lee quarterback and holding the edge to maintain defensive containment.

With the victory, the Bonham Bulldogs improve to 2-1 on the season. They will look to build on their momentum when they host River Valley Middle School at Herman Anderson Field on Tuesday, September 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:15 PM.
