BELTON, Texas — The Bonham Middle School 7th Grade A football team put on a masterclass in all three phases of the game Monday evening, rolling past the Belton Middle School Tigers with a dominant 32-0 victory at Tiger Field.

The Bulldogs set the tone early up front behind a flawless performance from the offensive line. Linemen Zaylen Coulter, Braylon Ellis, Gavin Ellis, Joel Ramirez, and Zach Brischke controlled the trenches from the opening whistle, allowing no negative plays and playing a penalty-free game to anchor a high-flying offensive attack.

Bonham’s dual-threat signal-callers kept the Belton defense on its heels all night. Quarterback Connor Brank delivered a stellar performance, passing for 123 yards and two touchdowns while adding 23 yards on the ground. Caleb Matamoros also showcased his versatility, tossing an 8-yard touchdown pass and adding 39 rushing yards.

The ground game proved unstoppable, led by running back Miael Teague, who racked up a staggering 149 total yards and a rushing touchdown. Fellow back Jakayden Riley-Jones added a lethal punch of his own, powering through the Tigers for 74 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Dominic Valdez: 1 catch, 31 yards, 1 TD
Jaxsen Paine: 1 catch, 5 yards, 1 TD


Kicker Ben Barbosa capped off the offensive display, executing a successful 2-point extra-point kick to keep the scoreboard moving.
Defense Pitches Shutout
As impressive as the offense was, the Bonham defense was absolute concrete, surrendering zero points and suffocating the Tigers behind the line of scrimmage. Defensive End Zaylen Coulter took home Defensive Player of the Game honors after a game-disrupting performance featuring 7 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, a forced fumble, and 2 additional tackles.

Nose Tackle Joel Ramirez was equally disruptive up the middle, registering 2 tackles for loss and a sack, while Defensive End Silas Moten chipped in 3 tackles and a tackle for loss. In the secondary, Cornerback Michael Ruiz locked down his side of the field, tallying 4 tackles and snagging a game-sealing interception.

Looking Ahead

With the win, Bonham moves to 2-0 on the season. The Bulldogs return to action on September 21 for a road matchup against S.C. Lee Junior High at Hanke Field in Copperas Cove, with kickoff scheduled for 6:15 PM.
