HEWITT, TX — Under the lights of Panther Stadium on May 7th, the Bonham Middle School 7th grade soccer team faced a tough road test against the Midway Middle School Panthers. Despite a gritty defensive performance and a second-half surge, the Bulldogs dropped the contest with a final score of 4-1.

Milne Stands Tall in Goal

The scoreline doesn't tell the full story of the defensive effort put forth by Bonham. Goalkeeper Alex Milne was the undisputed anchor for the Bulldogs, delivering a masterclass in shot-stopping. Milne recorded a staggering 15 saves throughout the match, repeatedly denying the high-powered Midway offense and keeping the Bulldogs within striking distance for much of the evening.

Second Half Spark

While the Panthers managed to build a lead, Bonham refused to go quietly. The Bulldogs found their rhythm in the second half, breaking through the Midway defense. Roni Ixcopal Flores provided the highlight of the night for the visitors, netting a beautiful goal to put Bonham on the board and inject a late-game wave of energy into the Bulldog sideline.

Season Finale: A Double-Header Showdown

The Bulldogs (7th Grade) will now turn their attention to the final fixtures of the 2026 season. In a unique season-ending event, Bonham will travel to Brad Dusek Field on the campus of Lamar Middle School for a combined 7th and 8th-grade showcase on May 17th.

The Bulldogs will play two back-to-back 30-minute halves against local rivals to close out the year:

vs. Travis Middle School: 5:35 PM (30-minute half)
vs. Lamar Middle School: 6:10 PM (30-minute half)
