HEWITT – The Bonham Middle School Bulldog 8th grade soccer team faced a formidable challenge on Thursday evening, dropping a 7-0 decision to the Midway Middle School Panthers at Panther Stadium.

Despite the lopsided scoreline, the match was highlighted by a gritty performance from Bonham’s goalkeeper, Jevniell Rosa-Rivera. Under constant pressure from a relentless Midway attack, Rosa-Rivera stood tall between the posts, racking up 10 saves on the night. His athleticism kept the Bulldogs competitive in stretches, preventing the Panthers from extending their lead even further.

The Midway offense proved to be too much to contain on their home turf, as the Panthers utilized their speed and precision passing to control the tempo from the opening whistle.

Looking Ahead: The Season Finale

The Bulldogs won't have much time to dwell on the loss as they prepare for a unique season finale. On May 17th, Bonham will travel to Brad Dusek Field on the campus of Lamar Middle School for a special doubleheader.

The event will feature combined 7th and 8th-grade rosters in a "sprint" format to conclude the 2026 campaign. The Bulldogs' schedule for the evening is as follows:

5:35 PM: A 30-minute half against the Travis Science Academy Mustangs.
6:10 PM: A 30-minute half against the Lamar Middle School Bearcats.

These back-to-back matchups will serve as the final curtain call for the Bulldogs' 2026 soccer season, giving the squad one last opportunity to showcase their growth on the pitch.
