TEMPLE, TX – In a high-stakes road matchup on Wednesday evening, the Bonham Bulldog 7th Grade A basketball team displayed immense heart and hustle, ultimately falling just short in a 46-42 thriller against North Belton Middle School.
The game was a back-and-forth defensive struggle from the tip-off, with the Bulldogs showcasing a balanced offensive attack that kept the Bronchos on their heels until the final whistle.
Balanced Attack Keeps Bulldogs in the Hunt
Bonham’s scoring was spread across the roster, proving the depth of this 7th-grade squad. Leonard Abilez led the way for the Bulldogs, turning in a team-high 9 points and providing a steady hand under pressure. He was followed closely by Audreas Lane, who contributed 8 points in a physical performance.
The Bulldogs' scoring breakdown included:
Leonard Abilez: 9 points
Audreas Lane: 8 points
Parker Huffman: 7 points
Tre Shamlin: 6 points
Bryce Robinson: 5 points

Despite the scoring variety, North Belton managed to execute a late fourth-quarter surge to pull ahead. Bonham fought until the closing seconds, but the clock ultimately ran out on their comeback bid.
