HEWITT, Texas — The Bonham Middle School Bulldog 7th Grade A football team ran into a tough Midway Middle School Panther squad on Tuesday evening, falling 28-8 in a hard-fought contest in Hewitt.
With the setback, the Bulldogs' season record now stands at 3-2.
Second-Half Spark
Midway established control early, but Bonham came out of the halftime locker room with renewed energy and quick offensive execution. The Bulldogs got themselves firmly on the scoreboard at the start of the second half when quarterback Connor Brank launched a deep pass, connecting with wide receiver Justin Stonum for a thrilling touchdown highlight.
Defensive Playmakers Stand Tall
While the offense worked to break through Midway’s defense, Bonham’s secondary consistently made high-impact plays to keep the team competitive. Safeties Miael Teague and Jakayden Riley-Jones spearheaded the defensive effort by forcing key turnovers.
Miael Teague: Snagged a timely interception to halt a Panther drive.
Jakayden Riley-Jones: Displayed sharp ball awareness to pounce on a Midway fumble.
Despite the defensive takeaways and second-half spark, the Panthers' early edge proved too much for the Bulldogs to overcome before the final whistle.
Looking Ahead
Next Game: Bonham will look to bounce back and defend their home turf on October 19, when they host Lake Belton Middle School at Herman Anderson Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
