TEMPLE, Texas — The Bonham Middle School Lady Bulldog soccer team put on a masterclass in dominance on Thursday, May 14, shutting out both of their local rivals to capture the prestigious Temple Middle School Soccer Cup.

The thrilling, season-ending round-robin tournament took place at Brad Dusek Field on the campus of Lamar Middle School. With bragging rights and a trophy on the line, the tournament combined the forces of both 7th and 8th-grade players, showcasing the absolute best of Temple ISD's young soccer talent in a series of high-stakes, 30-minute matches.

Match 1: Bonham 5, Lamar 0

The Lady Bulldogs started their evening with an absolute clinic against the host team, the Lamar Middle School Lady Bearcats. From the opening whistle, Bonham’s offense was firing on all cylinders, finding gaps in the Lamar defense and capitalising on nearly every opportunity. By the time the 30-minute whistle blew, the Lady Bulldogs had cruised to a commanding 5-0 victory, setting a fierce tone for the rest of the tournament.

Match 2: Bonham 1, Travis 0

With one victory under their belts, the Lady Bulldogs faced a much tighter, defensive battle against the Travis Science Academy Lady Mustangs. Travis proved to be a tough nut to crack, challenging Bonham at every turn in a physical, fast-paced match. However, the Lady Bulldogs managed to break the deadlock, slipping one past the Travis goalkeeper. Bonham's defense held completely solid to secure a 1-0 clean sheet.

Lifting the Cup

With two wins, six goals scored, and zero goals conceded, the Lady Bulldogs officially claimed the Temple Middle School Soccer Cup to close out their season in style.
Player of the Tournament: Bonham's own Kennedy Taft was awarded the tournament's highest individual honor, taking home the Player of the Tournament Award for her exceptional leadership, skill, and performance on the pitch.

It was a picture-perfect ending to the season for the combined 7th and 8th-grade Bonham squad, who proved tonight that Temple is officially Bulldog territory.
