HEWITT, TX — The 2026 track and field season reached its thrilling conclusion on April 7 at Panther Stadium, as the Bonham Middle School 8th Grade Bulldogs battled the best of the best at the Cen-Tex District Track & Field Championships.

In a high-stakes meet featuring the top four finishers from last week’s Divisional Qualifiers, the Bulldogs proved they belong among the elite. Bonham secured a prestigious 3rd Place finish in the team standings with 81 points, trailing only Lake Belton (86 points) and the district champion North Belton (101 points).

Field Event Dominance

The Bulldogs made their loudest statement in the field, where they racked up multiple gold medals. Daniel Jones soared to a 1st Place finish in the Long Jump with a massive leap of 20’1, while his teammate Benjamin Hall joined him on the podium in 3rd Place at 18’6 ½.

Hall wasn't finished there, however. He dominated the sand pit in the Triple Jump, claiming 1st Place with a mark of 39’1. Meanwhile, the powerhouse Jevniell Rosa-Rivera was a force in the rings, taking home the District title in the Discus with a throw of 132’11 and adding a bronze medal in the Shot Put with a distance of 41’7.

Speed on the Oval

On the track, the Bulldogs relied on explosive sprinting and chemistry. Daniel Jones showcased his versatility by sprinting to 2nd Place in the 100 meters, clocking in at 11.81.

The relay teams also proved their mettle against the fastest quartets in Central Texas. The 4x100 Relay team (Jevniell Rosa-Rivera, Ayedon Robinson, Benjamin Hall, and Daniel Jones) secured 3rd Place with a time of 47.01. The same core group, with Levonte Henderson stepping in, repeated the bronze-medal feat in the 4x200 Relay, crossing the line in 1:39.60.
