TEMPLE, TX — Under the lights of Broncho Stadium on April 1, the Bonham Middle School 8th Grade Lady Bulldogs battled through a competitive field at the Lake Belton Middle School Cen-Tex Divisional Meet. With a trip to the District Championships on the line, several Lady Bulldogs rose to the occasion, securing their spots for next week's big stage.
Bonham finished 5th Place in the overall team standings with 31 points. Host Lake Belton claimed the top spot with 198 points, followed by River Valley in second with 179.
Top Performers and District Qualifiers
The goal of the night was simple: finish in the top four to advance to the Cen-Tex Middle School District Championships. Leading the charge for Bonham was Destiny Dunbar, who dominated the track to become a dual-event qualifier. Dunbar took gold in the 100-meter hurdles with a blistering time of 18.88 and followed it up with a bronze finish in the 300-meter hurdles (56.24).
In the field events, Amaris Lawrence proved to be a powerhouse for the Lady Bulldogs. Lawrence clinched 3rd Place in the Shot Put with a toss of 32’6 and secured a 4th Place finish in the Discus with a throw of 64’5, earning her a qualifying spot in both throwing disciplines.

While the top four finishers advance, the Lady Bulldogs showed depth across the board with several athletes narrowly missing the qualifying mark but putting up strong performances:

Look Ahead to District
The qualifying Lady Bulldogs will now shift their focus to the Cen-Tex Middle School District Championships on April 7th. The meet will be held at Panther Stadium on the campus of Midway High School in Hewitt.
Field events are scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM, followed by the running finals at 6:00 PM. Good luck to our advancing athletes as they represent Bonham against the best in the district!
