Lady Bulldogs 7th Grade Secure 3rd Place Finish; Multiple Athletes Punch Tickets to District Championships

TEMPLE, TX — The Bonham Middle School Lady Bulldog 7th Grade Track & Field team showcased their grit and speed on April 1 at Broncho Stadium during the Lake Belton Middle School Cen-Tex Divisional Meet. In a highly competitive field, the Lady Bulldogs earned a solid 3rd Place team finish with 89.5 points, trailing only River Valley (194) and Lake Belton (183.5).

The meet served as the high-stakes qualifier for the Cen-Tex Middle School District Championships. With only the top four finishers in each event advancing, Bonham delivered several standout performances to ensure their season continues next week in Hewitt.

Top Performers and District Qualifiers

The Lady Bulldogs were led by a dominant sprinting core and sharp technical execution in the hurdles and throws. Several athletes secured medals and guaranteed their spots at the District Meet:
Relay Excellence: The 4x200 Relay team (Sadie Basinger, Aaliyah Parks, Luzia Mayunga, Viviana Calloway) took 1st Place with a blistering time of 1:58.79. The 4x400 Relay team (Sadie Basinger, Kayleigh Jaques, Aaliyah Parks, Malaysia Teague) also qualified, taking 3rd Place in 4:20.49.

Aaliyah Parks: A standout on the track and in the field, Parks claimed 1st Place in the 200 meters (30.07) and squeezed into the District cut with a 4th Place finish in the Long Jump (12’8).

Sadie Basinger: Basinger proved to be one of the fastest on the track, taking 1st Place in the 100 meters with a time of 14.50.

Giulina Chopane-Vasquez: A force in the hurdles, she captured 1st Place in the 300 hurdles (57.33) and 3rd Place in the 100 hurdles (20.50).

Ella Bennett: Bennett showed her strength in the rings, taking 2nd Place in Discus with a toss of 67’2.

Jade Edwards: Edwards secured her advancement in the 100 hurdles, finishing in 4th Place with a time of 20.71.

Looking Ahead to District

The qualifying Lady Bulldogs will now prepare for the Cen-Tex Middle School District Championships on April 7th. The meet will be held at Panther Stadium on the campus of Midway High School in Hewitt.

Field events are scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM, followed by the Running Finals at 6:00 PM. Good luck to all our advancing Lady Bulldogs!
