TEMPLE, TX — The Bonham Middle School 7th Grade Track & Field team put on a gritty performance this past Wednesday, April 1, at the Cen-Tex Divisional Meet. Competing on their home turf at Broncho Stadium, the Bulldogs battled through a competitive field to secure a 5th place team finish with 90.50 points.
While River Valley took the top spot (247.5) and Lake Belton followed in second (109), the real story for Bonham was the surge of individual qualifiers who earned their spot at the upcoming Cen-Tex Middle School District Championships.
Heading to Hewitt: The Top Performers
To advance to the District Championships, athletes had to finish in the top four of their respective events. Bonham will be well-represented at Midway High School next week thanks to several standout medalists and podium finishers.
Field Event Standouts
The Bulldogs found early success in the pits and rings. Alexzander Milne led the way with a silver-medal performance in the Discus, tossing a distance of 83’4 ½. In the High Jump, Kaden Prempeh cleared 4’6 to take 2nd Place, while Marcos Flores secured a 3rd Place finish in the Triple Jump with a leap of 30’4. Rounding out the field qualifiers, Edwardo Esqueda earned 3rd Place in the Shot Put with a heave of 34’8.
Track & Relay Success
On the track, the Bulldogs' relay teams were firing on all cylinders. The 4x100 Relay (Parker Huffman, Rony Ixcopal, Malik Lawrence, Kaden Prempeh) and the 4x400 Relay (Alejandro Rodriguez, Dawson McCauley, Mason Guajardo, Kaden Prempeh) both earned 3rd Place finishes. The 4x200 Relay also safely advanced, taking 4th Place.

Audreas Lane: 4th Place in the 110 hurdles (20.25)
Sylas Ward: 4th Place in the 1600 meters (6:00.52)
Kaden Prempeh: 4th Place in the 400 meters (1:03.34)
Marcos Flores: 4th Place in the 800 meters (2:39.04)

Looking Ahead
The qualifying Bulldogs will now prepare for the Cen-Tex Middle School District Championships. The meet is scheduled for April 7th at Panther Stadium on the campus of Midway High School in Hewitt. Action is expected to be fierce as the best in the district compete for the final titles of the season.
