TEMPLE, TX — The Bonham Lady Bulldog 7th Grade A basketball team put on a defensive clinic Thursday night, cruising to a commanding 40-10 victory over the visiting Belton Middle School Lady Tigers at Bulldog Gym.
From the opening tip-off, the Lady Bulldogs established a pace that Belton struggled to match. Led by a career-high performance from Kylen Russell, Bonham remained in control through all four quarters to secure the win in front of a home crowd.
Top Performers
Kylen Russell was unstoppable, accounting for more than half of the Lady Bulldogs' total points. Russell set the tone early with 9 points in the first quarter and showed off her range with a clutch 3-pointer in the second. She remained consistent through the second half, adding 6 points in both the third and fourth quarters to finish with a game-high 24 points.
Malaysia Teague provided a significant second-half spark, scoring 6 of her 8 total points during a decisive third-quarter run that put the game out of reach for Belton.
Rounding out the scoring for Bonham were Summer Williams and Brynley Cole, who each contributed 4 points to the winning effort.
Looking Ahead
The Lady Bulldogs will look to carry this momentum onto the road next week. They are scheduled to face Copperas Cove Junior High on Thursday, January 15. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
