TEMPLE, TX — The Bonham Lady Bulldogs 8th Grade B basketball team put on a defensive clinic Thursday night, securing a commanding 39-10 victory over the visiting Belton Middle School Lady Tigers at Bulldog Gym.
From the opening tip-off, Bonham established a rhythm that Belton struggled to break. Led by a high-octane first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-4 lead and never looked back, holding the Lady Tigers to single digits in every frame.
Explosive First Quarter Sets the Tone
The Lady Bulldogs came out of the gates swinging, fueled by a dominant performance from Makenzie Jefferies, who dropped 6 points in the opening period alone. She was supported by the sharp shooting of Tori Gehling and Adja Jawneh, who contributed 4 points apiece in the first eight minutes to put Belton on their heels early.
Defensive Masterclass
The hallmark of the night was Bonham’s relentless pressure. After allowing only 9 points through the first three quarters, the Lady Bulldogs' defense reached its peak in the final period, shutting out Belton completely while pouring in 14 points to seal the win.
