The Bonham Bulldog 8th Grade B basketball team traveled to Belton Middle School on Thursday night for a cross-town showdown that came down to the final possession. In a defensive battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the Bulldogs fell just short, dropping a 24-25 decision to the Tigers.

The contest was a gritty, back-and-forth affair characterized by tough interior defense and high-pressure play. Bonham’s offense was spearheaded by a standout performance from Daniel Delafuente, who found his rhythm early and finished with a team-high 13 points.

Rayson Kindred provided a significant spark on both ends of the floor, chipping in 8 points to keep the Bulldogs within striking distance throughout the second half. Joey Cuellar added 2 points in the paint, and Kiano Matthews rounded out the scoring with 1 point from the charity stripe.

Despite the narrow loss, the Bulldogs showed immense heart on the road, battling through a loud environment and a physical Belton squad.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back and defend their home court in their next outing. Bonham will host Copperas Cove on Thursday, January 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
